There’s something magical about feeling the wind gust through your hair as you speed off into the sunset in a brand new place. My life has never felt more like a movie.
One year ago, I could have never imagined this day. I mean, I’m literally riding off into the sunset on a moped with a man I met six months ago. In Bali, nonetheless.
Excitement, love, happiness, closeness, surprised, fear and butterflies are all things that I’m currently feeling as we whizz off to Tanah Lot Temple. Rice fields surround us and other mopeds speed by us as I imagine this ending badly for a brief second. But no, everything is perfect. We’re chasing the sun to catch the sunset at this temple after a perfect day relaxing and eating in Canggu.
What more could I need?
Tanah Lot is one of Bali’s most important landmarks, and is famed for its unique offshore setting and sunset backdrops. Perched on top of a mountain is an ancient Hindu shrine. The views are breathtaking and we happened to be here when the tide was very low. The onshore site is dotted with smaller shrines alongside visitors’ leisure facilities such as restaurants, shops and a cultural park.
The temple is located approximately 20 km northwest of Kuta.
