I’m fairly new to yoga, but there’s something about being able to simultaneously put your mind and body at ease that keeps me determined to someday become a yogi. I’ve only been practicing on and off for about 6 months but I can’t seem to get it out of my system.
So when I planned a trip to visit Kauai, I used my trusty Google machine to look up beginner yoga classes on the beach.
On Saturday morning I got up really early and ventured to Hanalei Coffee Roasters with my family, then hung out on the pier until it was time for my class. I didn’t really know what to expect, and I was a little nervous because I still consider myself a little beginner yogini. To my surprise, this class ended up being a private lesson with my instructor Anya.
Anya was super gracious and first asked me if I had any problem areas, or areas that were super tight. I automatically thought my hips. So we did an entire session opening up my hips, while meditating, and enjoying the scenery, which had a special guest appearance of a few rainbows.
The class lasted about 1 hour and 15 minutes, including a little photo op (because who can resist doing yoga poses in front of the beach, pier, mountains and a rainbow?).
