Take a trip to Eggslut on any given Saturday (or any day of the week for that matter), and you’ll see a line wrapped entirely around its little counter space. Your first thoughts will probably be something along the lines of, is this line really worth it? Maybe we should eat somewhere else. And you’ll definitely consider it, since there are many other tasty choices within Grand Central Market, located in downtown LA.
Let me just save you the thought process and tell you that the line is definitely worth the wait. Founded in 2011 by Alvin Cailan, Eggslut got its name simply from a true love for eggs. So I guess you can officially consider me an Eggslut slut 😉
Offering a pretty small menu, Eggslut offers a balance of comfort food and things you’ve never heard of before (aka innovation). After taking one look at the menu, I knew I had to order the Slut ($9) mainly because of its name. This specialty is described as a coddled egg on top of a smooth potato puree, poached in a little glass mason jar, topped with gray salt and chives, served with toasted slices of baguette (I added some avocado, nom).
